Reunited Kingdom Help

We’ve compiled the below guides and explanatory sections to help you use the site. If you are still stuck, please contact us at enquiries@reunited-kingdom.co.uk.

Listings

  • Click ‘Add Listing’ from the navigation menu
  • Fill out the form fields:
    • Listing Type – Select a listing type according to the use case.
    • Title – Enter the title in the following format: “Lost or Found or Stolen” then “Village/Town/City” then “What the item is” i.e. Lost – Bletchingley – iPhone
    • Description – For Lost and Stolen items, please enter as full a description as possible. For Found items, please only describe what the item is and where and when it was found. Please don’t describe distinguishing features to avoid false claims.
    • Reward – For lost or stolen items, select whether a reward is offered. If YES‘, add the reward value as a number. You do not need to add a ‘£’ symbol.
    • Listing Author – Please add your name here.
    • Contact Preferences – Select from the list of methods how people can contact you. If you select ‘PHONE‘ or ‘EMAIL‘ then these will be publicly visible on the listing. If you select ‘CONTACT FORM‘, any submissions will be sent to an email address that you nominate in the next field. Your email address will be hidden from public view and prevents unwanted communications. You are able to select more than one option in the contact preferences field.
    • Category – Select a category that best suits the item that has been lost, found or stolen. If a category doesn’t exist, select ‘CATEGORY NOT LISTED‘ and a relevant category will be created by the site admin before the listing is published.
    • Tags – Tags are used to enhance the search feature on this site. It is a free text field where you should enter any other relevant words that help describe your listing. For example – if you a lost pink iPhone in Sainsbury’s Redhill, your tags would be: iphone; sainsburys; pink; redhill. Anyone who searches the site for any one of those tags would see your listing in the search results.
    • Address – For lost and found items, be as specific as possible and give the exact location. Add in the postal address and click ‘SET ADDRESS ON MAP‘ or, if you’re not sure of the postal address, simply drag the map icon to the relevant location. Zoom in if you need to but note that the final zoom position is what will be shown open viewing the listing.
    • Address Latitude – This is automatically populated.
    • Address Longitude – This is automatically populated.
    • Select Map View – You can select a different map view if you wish.
    • Images – For lost and stolen items, provide as many detailed images as you can. For found items, we suggest either uploading an image with distinguishing features blurred or blacked out, not uploading an image at all or uploading a generic image. If no image is uploaded, the website automatically adds a generic listing image.
    • Preview Listing – This allows you to view how your listing will look once it’s published. It will open in a new tab. Simply close it down once you’ve finished reviewing. If you need to make edits, you can amend the form fields.
    • Submit Listing – Once you’re ready, click to submit the listing to the site admin for approval before publishing.

All listings are moderated by the site admin to ensure it contains valid information so don’t be alarmed if it doesn’t publish on the site immediately.

Should there be any issue with the listing, a site admin will email you to invite you to edit and resubmit.

If you spot you’ve made an error on your listing, don’t panic! You can edit it by logging in, finding your listing and scrolling to the ‘Edit’ button at the bottom. You will see the same screen where you created your listing. Simply change any incorrect details and resubmit.

Lost and found listings will expire after 60 days, unless the listing owner chooses to renew for a further term. You will be contacted by email to prompt a renewal. If you don’t renew, the listing will expire and will be removed from view. The listing will remain stored on the website so, if you decide you’d like to renew after it has expired, please contact enquiries@reunited-kingdom.co.uk and we will republish it for you.

Stolen listings will expire after 90 days and follow the same expiration and renewal process as above.

You have the option when you create a listing to be contacted via three separate methods:

  • Contact Form
  • Phone
  • Email

Contact Form
The contact form is on every listing by default and provides a method of communication between you and someone who contacts you to discuss your listing. Your email address is not publicly visible for this method, thus ensuring a level of privacy.

When someone completes the form, you will be sent an email from the site containing the contact form output that includes the person’s name and email address. It also includes their phone number (if they supply it) and their message.

You may encounter spam messages via this contact form so please use your judgment as to whether to respond.

Phone
If you supply your phone number, it will be publicly visible on the site.

Email
If you supply your email, it will be publicly visible on the site.

If you are the listing owner, you will see a ‘Google Analytics’ button on your listing when you are logged in.

If you click this button, you will see how many people have viewed your listing over the time period that you select. This is a useful tool to see how much of an impact your listing has had.

Rewards can be offered for any lost or stolen items but are hidden on ‘found’ listings. If a reward is offered, it is the responsibility of the listing owner to facilitate the gifting of this to the person who reunited them with their item.

Reunited Kingdom cannot enforce the completion of any reward transactions and, as such, should be considered as a pledge by the listing owner who is trusted to fulfil within a reasonable period of time.

If you have been fortunate enough to be reunited with your item, please let us know by clicking the ‘Mark as Reunited’ button at the bottom of your listing (you will need to be logged in to see this button). Your listing will still be visible on the site and will be added to our Reunited listing category which we will display as a success story.

If you’d prefer we don’t do this, please contact us at enquiries@reunited-kingdom.com and we’ll mark the listing as expired to remove it from view.

Your listing will be automatically published to the Reunited Kingdom Facebook page 5 minutes after the site admin has reviewed and published the listing on this website. If you’ve made an error, please rectify it within this timeframe otherwise your post on Facebook will be incorrect (you’ll know when it’s published as you’ll be notified via email).

If you miss the 5 minute deadline and you realise you’ve made a mistake, please update your listing and contact us at enquiries@reunited-kingdom.co.uk and we’ll manually intervene.

We will also share this Facebook post to the nominated Facebook groups you selected when you created your listing. We will do this as soon as the post appears on our Facebook page.

If the Facebook group you would like us to share your listing in is not present, please select ‘Not Listed’ and we will try to join the group. Please note that we operate from a Facebook business page and not all groups allow such pages to join and post so it may not be possible to fulfil your request. In these circumstances, you can find your listing on our Facebook page and share to your desired group. There is also a Facebook share button within your listing details.
